It’s Going To Be a Great year!!!
Hello! My name is Eric Goetsch, and I am happy that I have the opportunity to be your child’s teacher. I look forward to getting to know your child as well as meeting the most important people to my students, their families.
I would like to take this time to give you some background information about my education, teaching experience, and favorite activities. I grew up in Wisconsin, therefore a proud Cheesehead, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater with a degree in elementary education and a minor in science. I am excited to be back at the middle school level where my teaching first started. I taught 6th grade at a middle school in Wisconsin for six years. I taught math throughout that experience and taught social studies four of those years as well. Since I have been in California, I have taught at Vineyard for five years in 5th grade, one other year in 6th grade math, and one year as the math intervention specialist. While in Wisconsin, I coached high school soccer and golf, and coached volleyball at the middle school. I love to share my experiences with my students, and use those life experiences to enhance learning in the classroom.
In my spare time I enjoy many types of activities. I love sports, movies, music, hiking, watching Jeopardy and camping. I also enjoy hunting and fishing. I miss the Wisconsin winters where my favorite activity was ice fishing. The Packer’s and Brewers will always be my favorite teams, but I’ll cheer for the 49ers and Giants when they aren’t playing my teams. I currently play in a soccer league in San Luis Obispo and have played in volleyball and kickball leagues back in Wisconsin. My wife, Kristen, and I love to travel to new places and keep busy with our two sons, Parker and Tyson.
In this classroom, like all aspects of life, there are rules to follow and consequences for breaking those rules. I will be fair and provide my students with as many opportunities for success as I can. I am hopeful that the students will be respectful, responsible, and ready to learn many exciting things.
My biggest goal as a teacher is to make sure the students understand what is being taught in the classroom. It is very important that if they do not understand something they let me know, so I can review it. I always tell my students, “I am not able to help if I do not know you are confused.” I welcome students to ask as many questions as they need to understand.
I am always interested in learning new things and I gather as much knowledge as I can from everywhere I go. This year, with learning, we will have fun!
Sincerely,
Eric Goetsch
